The United States is the primary developer, manufacturer, and consumer of the JSF, but the program has now become a global effort. Britain, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Australia, Norway and Denmark have all contributed heavily on the project. These eight partners have more than 700 planes on order to be delivered before 2035. Still more exports are expected to nations without a hand in the development phase. India, Taiwan, Spain, Greece, Finland, and Brazil have all expressed interest in eventually acquiring the Joint Strike Fighter. Well over 3,000 total planes are expected to be produced so far, making the JSF the most prevalent fighter in history.
